I’m thrifty for those of you who don’t know. I love to create things out of old junk that most people toss in the trash or recycling. Along with simple and cheap craft supplies. That said, I love the way that arrows look for home décor but I never found any that I really liked. So I made some. Here are the steps I took to make my DIY craft stick arrows for home décor.
1 – Lay out your wood craft sticks so you know how you want them arranged. Do this before you start gluing.
2 – Once you have them laid out in the pattern you want them start gluing. They are hard to keep still and keep them in the angles that you want so you’ll be readjusting them as you go.
3 – Start gluing the pieces together. Glue at the corners and hold them together for a few seconds until they are dry. I found it easier to start at the bottom. I used 6 small wood craft sticks per arrow for the bottom. Once I had the bottom put together I made the other 2 bottoms to match and used the first as a template. I then glued the top triangle using 3 small wood craft sticks. This way I again had a template to use. Then used the 2 large wood craft sticks for the middle, gluing them together. Once all 3 pieces were glued, I put them all together and glued them to make the arrow one piece.
4 – Once they were all glued together, I took them outside to spray paint them. I used the same spray paint that I have used for various other things around my house. I love the color and like that the things around my house all match.
Once you have the final product its time to decorate with them! I currently have mine in my laundry room/foyer resting on top of my wainscoting.
If you have made these please share with me your ideas or how you used them to decorate!
